Palantir is an integration layer, an orchestrator that helps to pull out what the user wants from different, decentralized databases. It is not because they care about your democracy. It is because like Thiel said, big data is dumb data. This makes the decision making process quicker and clearer, needing less hardware and processing capability. They do not need to know which kind of meal Putin is going to eat today to help to select the route of the drones that will fly to Moscow.

But Thiel's investments in Israeli defense tech are very recent, although he appreciates the Israeli mentality and their acuteness in war. His native Germany has always been his other center (bigger, having the industrial muscles, and providing his network's higher echelons with new blood), but it has also become harder to penetrate directly, so Israel and the UK act as gateways for that too. Israel is becoming worried with the way he captures defense tech talent too. He has been helping them building all their hottest new defense startups - Kela (built with Palantir personnel), Covenant (CEO from Palantir, about to expand in UK and Germany), Traysar (The Boring company personnel) but then he keeps them all in his system, aka Founders Fund, Anduril and the whole American bunch (a16z, Lux, Sequoia).
