Thank you for your unwavering commitment to factual reporting. In an era when truth is often treated as negotiable and journalism is dismissed as partisan noise, your dedication to rigorous investigation and evidence-based storytelling is invaluable. Real journalism—the kind that requires patience, verification, and the courage to follow facts wherever they lead—is essential to a functioning democracy. Your work holds power accountable, gives voice to the overlooked, and provides the informed public discourse we desperately need. Keep digging, keep questioning, and know that your integrity doesn't go unnoticed.
I dearly hope that you never feel alone Carole. You are loved, admired and an inspiration to so many of us. Thank you for your fierce professional diligence and your genuine human heart. You may not have set out to be a warrior - however you most definitely are my favourite one. Much love. Pink x
I can honestly say your writing is one of the few things keeping me sane during this apokalypsis era. People are waking up, slowly. Even my 70 year old mum mentioned Peter Thiel and how evil he is when I was visiting over Christmas. She's a long-time Daily Mail reader, so that renewed my optimism. Keep doing the Lord's work and don't let the buggers grind you down.
Ma'am. Thank you. So, relative to your hard landing describe herein (my image here: vintage C-47, one engine on fire, the other spluttering, one landing gear jammed, and just 200 yards of clear field in view), and you blew in and out of that paper bag, grabbed the control yoke with one hand and the functioning throttle with the other and just landed, sufficiently intact to deliver a TED talk that moved this old, weary Boy Scout to tears, and from my point of view pulled the insouciance right off the faces of the assembled bros. I remain so very impressed, and as part of my New Year's letter, am sharing that link. Everything this old Boomer has held as worthwhile is on the brink of tipping, and you helped name it. I'd like to return a bit of favor, words from an American who used to work for The Machine and one day came to; came to believe; and came to believe that she could change and make a difference.
Here is tech writer Lin Su's substack observations on 'the final moves' of The Machine. "Hanlon’s Razor, “never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity,” was invented by someone with ruinous empathy. It is a get-out-of-accountability-free card. A thought-terminating cliche that protects the powerful by assuming incompetence rather than strategy, .... All while bodies pile up, rights erode, wealth concentrates, and infrastructure crumbles."
You, on that TED stage, were that proverbial private in a Norman hedgerow on a night in June, who figured out that, in fact, 'we were all dead men the minute we stepped into those planes.' And accepting that, you just did the damn job in front of you.
Thanks, again. May we create a ruinous New Year for those who would enclose our very imaginations for money.
Thank you Carole. Thank you for your honesty and bravery. You may have been shaking but you did it, and indeed, invoking the memory of the brave Virginia Giuffre reminds us all of the need to be brave, and speak our truth. 🙏
Yes no, I'm still not too smashed to thank you for an astonishing 2025 of brilliance, and wish you a very happy New Year, Carole. And anyone else here who happens to read this comment.
Ngā mihi Carole. Someone smarter than me said that you can’t be brave unless you’re scared first - well done! Perineum - perfect, and locked away for future use…
I'm one of your 30k supporters. Your authentic visceral heartfelt truth reporting truth to power with evidence and compassion is awe inspiring. Thank you for your honesty courage and curiosity, alive, in the Welsh rainforest family. We are in this together. No Kings. Peace. Christopher and family.
I am desperate for your message of hope however tentative to apply.
You have been involved in & attacked by a profoundly dangerous and unhealthy system. It’s malevolence is apparent & hell mend the pious Guardian for bottling it. They could have joined you in trying to be an antidote. This will be recognised in the future more clearly. Meantime it is meagre, but thank you for your work and personal courage where others shrank back.
Thank you for putting yourself in the firing line on behalf of us all. Deeply grateful and humbled.
Thank you for your courage, for speaking truth. You are a beacon.

Stay strong, Carole, and thank you for shining Cassandra’s light.

This time is also known as the Halcyon Days. We can hope. Thank you for writing a very human piece. I shall remember it.

Your words keep us strong!
I will now never not refer to this stretch of days as the Perineum between Christmas and New Years 😭
Brilliant metaphor “the perineum between Christmas and New Years”. I will remain a devoted follower and admirer of you work.
